Q: Do I have to be a Berwyn Resident? A: No. The Berwyn Mustangs welcomes all
towns.

Q: Are the Mustangs a football or cheerleading organization? A: We are both.

Q: Do the Mustangs play flag football, tackle, or both? A: Our football program
participates in full contact tackle football. We are considering starting a spring flag football
mini-league.

Q: Are the Mustangs an in-house or travel program? A: We are a travel program
participating in a conference of Chicagoland teams.

Q: Do the Mustangs conduct try-outs? A: No. We are an open-registration program
competing in an open-registration conference.

Q: What age can my child begin participating? A: Any child wishing to participate in
our football or cheer program must be 5-15 years old.

Q: How long is the season? A: The season typically lasts for 4 months from the last
week of July to the week of Thanksgiving if we have teams in the playoffs.

Q: Are games usually on Saturday or Sunday? A: Both. The schedule is published in
August once the league and all programs report on their team counts at each level.

Q: What is the practice schedule like? A: For the first few weeks of the season, our
football/cheer teams practice 5 nights per week. Times may vary but typically from
6-8pm. Once the games begin, typically the last weekend in August, football/cheer drops
down to 3 nights per week.

Q: What conference do the Mustangs compete in? A: We compete in the Chicagoland
United YFL conference.

Q: What towns do the Mustangs compete against? A: We play a ten game schedule
(plus playoffs) with our opponents ranging among 30 other programs in the Chicagoland
area. These teams have historically been separated into a North and South conference
which limits the amount of travel to games.

Q: How far are away games? A: Our away game travel times can range between 25
minutes and 1 hour, 15 minutes. Our average away game travel time is about 40 minutes.

Q: What are the fees to participate? A: Football $275 Cheer $300. Mandatory
Fundraising throughout the year.

Q: How is our registration fee applied to the league? A: 95% of the money goes to
operating costs, which include field maintenance fees, new equipment purchases and
repairs, reconditioning of helmets every year, referee fees, insurance, and league
membership fees, and End of year banquet and awards ceremony. Free participation to
our mini-camps and pool party in the summer. 5% goes to future projects, improvements
to the program, and travel costs.

Q: What equipment am I responsible for providing my participating child? A: Our
fees include all game-day gear for football players and cheerleaders – including Riddell®
Helmets, game jersey(Keep) and practice pants. The only items not included in our
fees are football cleats, long black tube socks, and additional mouth pieces. Cheer
includes shell, skirt, spankies, pom-poms, cheer socks, cheer bow, cheer shoes(keep),
warm up suit w/logo and name(keep).

Q: Where is practice held? A: Our football teams and cheer squads practice at Morton
West High School. 2400 Home Ave Berwyn.

Q: Where are home games played? A: Our home games have historically been played
at Morton West High School.
